I do wish the book had been longer to include stakeouts, more info on detectives and more personal stories, but I've learned so much already that I can't really complain. This book is just what I needed to help with my research: short, easy to understand, informative and to the point. I hadn't even needed the section about spies, yet I was so impressed that I read that too. I highlighted a lot and plan to return to this book often. I highly recommend this read for anyone interested in writing law enforcement, not as a standalone, mind you, but certainly as a companion in research.Product details

It really made me think about how I portray law enforcement in my stories. I know some tactics used in tv and movie police dramas were ridiculous. But I hadn't really thought out some things that are common in most. Its definitely worth reading.

This is really helpful in understanding what really goes on in the world of (undercover) police and spies. The author is Canadian, but he's obviously done his research and much of what he writes about is applicable anywhere.
I very much enjoyed this book. It offered great insight into areas many get wrong and was enjoyable to read at the same time. I also do think it will aid my writing in making sure I have now more authentic insight to offer in a few areas the book touched on.
As an amateur screenwriter, and fan of this genre, I got a lot of practical insight. I am more critical now of TV cop shows.
